Le lac du Der offers you  many nautical activities like sailing, water-skiing or jet-ski.
All these activities mainly unwind around the port of Giffaumont.

Le lac du Der is the first artificial lake of Europe, with 4800 hectares of area and contain until 350 million m3 of water.
It was built in years 70 in order to control the Marne and to avoid floods.
The lake fills from December to June in order to protect the valley against floods, then his level drops from July to November.
For the building of this lake, 3 villages were drowned: Champaubert aux bois, Nuisement aux bois et Chantecoq. About 300 inhabitants left these villages.
